Over 100 celebrate at our Grover Cleveland Reception

Thank-You for Another Successful Grover Cleveland Reception!

Thursday evening Sept 30th 2010 at the Wright Museum in Wolfeboro, Democrats rallied and heard from our local, county, state and Federal candidates.  What a terrific group of candidates we have on our slate.  I’m so proud of all these intelligent, informed and committed people.

Carroll County Democrats with Carol Shea-Porter 2010 Grover Cleveland Reception

The evening started off by playing a few messages from Concerned Citizens in support of Carol Shea-Porter
which we hope to be bringing to you soon through You Tube...

Speaker of the House, Terie Norelli, then gave us a strong message of Democratic accomplishments in the legislature.

NHDP Executive Director Michael Brunelle gave a superb speech about the subterfuge being employed by the opposition.  He’s a political firebrand!

Representative Ed Butler was the recipient of the 2010 Paul Wellstone Democratic Ideals Award for promoting the ideals of justice and progressive policies for the people of Carroll County and New Hampshire.  Congratulations, Ed.

Peggo Hodes sang beautifully then spoke engagingly about her husband Paul Hodes.

Carol Shea-Porter was able to leave Washington early enough to attend and speak to us.  We are grateful for her dedication and extra efforts on our behalf.

Our keynote speaker, Dean Barker, was outstanding and inspirational!

Of course, President Grover Cleveland stopped in to fire everyone up then disappeared into the ether for another year.

It was a great evening for the Carroll County Democrats.

Thanks to all who attended, bought ads in our program and raffle tickets.  Your donations will enable us to purchase much needed ads for our candidates.

Special thanks to many people who helped pull this all together.

Valley Vision videotaped the event and will be showing it on Channel 3 in their viewing area, so watch for the listing.

My thanks go out to the nearly 150 of you who joined us at the Brass Heart Inn on Sunday, November 1st, at the 2009 Grover Cleveland Reception. What a great day it was to be with our fellow Democrats and independent supporters as we welcomed Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter, accompanied by her delightful mother Peggy, and Congressman Paul Hodes, candidate for the U.S. Senate race in 2010.

Thank-you Mr. President (George Cleveland) for rousing the crowd.

I’d like to especially recognize and thank my Grover Cleveland Reception committee for their help – Gerry Dyer, David Robinson, Rep. Tom Buco, Rep. Ed Butler and Nancy Long, who made all the delicious desserts for the occasion.  Thanks also to Jaye Hayes, who was regretfully, unable to attend, for all her support.  Last but not least, to Jean Jones and  Gino for being there to help with the registration desk.

For questions and addition of your pictures at the reception please email office@ccnhdemocrats.org

The list of those who worked to make this event a success is long, but special thanks go out to the following:

  • Ellen Farnum, Hans Stafford and Peggy Johnson for providing outstanding musical entertainment.  Many have suggested that they take their “Phantom of the Health Care System” on the road, including their a capella song welcoming Carol Shea-Porter to the stage.
  • Ray Buckley for his remarks and for auctioning off high-end tickets to the State Party’s Jefferson/Jackson Dinner with Bill Clinton on December 2 and donating the proceeds to County Committee.  Bud Martin was the winner of after making a generous bid of $300.
  • “Friends of the Carroll County Democrats” whose extra support is appreciated.
  • All our elected officials in Carroll County who work many long days and travel so far to represent us.
