2008 New Hampshire Democratic Convention

Wakefield Pride Day This year we do have a conflict due to the fact that the state convention is on the same day as Pride Day, Sat. May 17th. This means we REALLY need a lot of help as many of our members will be attending the convention. We are going to keep it simple with a table where we will have material from all of the candidates to hand out. For the parade we will ask as many of you as can to wear something blue and to just march as a group carrying the signs for our candidates. Please let me know if you can spare any time to be at our table and/or to walk in the parade. We will need people there at 8:30 am to help set up and we will clean up at 2 pm.

Thanks for helping and be sure to spread the word about MMAD and help recruit more members. The more people we have to help the less work it will be and the more fun we will have. This should be a good year for Democrats so join us and do your part to help save our democracy.

Monday May 19th - Carroll County Caucus to be held at Samantha's on Route 16 in Tamworth dinner beginning at 5:30 pm Meeting at 7:00 p.m. Officers to be elected will be: Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and two At-large members.

This year will be one of the most important elections in the nation's history. Democrats have two outstanding candidates running for the presidential nomination, Jean Shaheen is a strong candidates for US Senate, and Bud Martin will be an excellent NH State Senator. Bob Bridgham, Tom Buco, Ed Butler and Howard Cunningham will be running for reelection and we are developing a strong slate of other candidates.

For these things to happen, a strong organization is required. The Carroll County Democrats will be holding a caucus to elect officers for the coming two years. All registered Democrat are encouraged to attend the caucus to be held on May 19th at Samantha's on Route 16 in Tamworth beginning at 7:00 p.m. Officers to be elected will be: Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and two At-large members.

Any registered Democrat may nominate themselves and/or other members. Nomination should be sent to Beth Funicella at 383-9303 or email at LAFU@mac.com by May 15th. However nominations may be made from the floor at the caucus.

Everyone is welcome to attend a social hour and dinner beginning at 5:30 pm. Dinner is a buffet costing $17.57 including tax and tip and can be paid by check or cash only.

We have sent the above information to the Conway Daily Sun and the Salmon Press papers. Please feel free to forward it to other newspapers and community bulletin boards.

Thursday May 22nd - Monthly meeting Thurs. May 22nd noon at Poor People's Pub. Hopefully Jim Martin will be able to attend this event. I am sorry that last month he had to go to Concord and could not make our meeting. We will try again.

Wed. May 28th 5-6:45 meet Bud Martin, running for state senate from our district, and Jeff Ballard running for state rep. from our district. They will be at Poor People's Pub to meet with you, answer your questions and hear your concerns. This is an IMPORTANT event so please try to stop by and have a drink, eat dinner and invite friends, neighbors to join you.
