Thomas A Hendricks - Vice President of the United States in 1885 *

In 1876, newspapers from across the country reported the Tilden/Hendricks's victory and that Rutherford B. Hayes had conceded. Many historians agree and still consider the election of 1876 to be the most controversial in American history and that Tilden was elected the 19th President.
Congress and a Republican controlled Senate along with the corrupt Grant administration twisted every rule in the book to get the remaining 19 electoral votes in Hayes column.
