Property Taxes

New Hampshire families work hard — they shouldn’t carry the whole tax burden.

Carroll County Democrats are fighting to lower property taxes by restoring state aid to towns and schools, closing corporate tax loopholes, and ending the GOP’s cost-shifting schemes. Local Democratic legislators have led the push for a homestead property tax exemption and a modest local fee on overnight tourist stays — commonsense measures that would give homeowners a break while visitors help pay their fair share.

We believe the state should be a partner, not a pass-through. When Concord shirks its share, local taxpayers get stuck with the bill.

Kelly Ayotte and her Republican allies did the opposite: they handed out tax breaks to big corporations and the ultra-wealthy, gutted revenue-sharing, and left towns to pick up the tab. That’s why your bill keeps climbing — it’s the Concord Tax.

Democrats believe our tax dollars should work for us — funding strong schools, safe roads, and affordable communities. We’re ready to end the Concord Tax and restore fairness to our system.
