Housing
Everyone should be able to afford a home in the community they love.
Carroll County Democrats understand that housing is the key to keeping our small towns vibrant. Local Democrats have led the way — updating zoning and planning rules to encourage new home construction while protecting what makes our towns special. At the state level, Democrats have fought for investments in municipal infrastructure, planning grants, and the Affordable Housing Fund — proven tools that help communities actually build the homes we need.
Across Carroll County, we see the challenge every day: homes snapped up for second houses or short-term rentals, rents climbing out of reach, and young workers forced to leave because they can’t find a place to live. Our housing market can’t keep working just for out-of-state investors — it has to work for local people, from teachers and healthcare workers to the seniors who want to stay in the homes they built.
Kelly Ayotte and the GOP walked away from commonsense solutions, zeroing out funding for proven state housing programs and abandoning local communities. Democrats have a better plan: rebuild the state–local partnership, restore funding to the programs that work, and make sure the people who make Carroll County thrive can afford to live here — not just visit.
Because when working people can live here, our schools stay strong, our businesses stay open, and our communities thrives.
